Last night saw The Engine Room host another successful Behance evening with guest reviewers Sneaky Raccoon (Anna Mullin) and Peter O'Toole join our volunteers to critique and support local aspiring designers.
Behance Portfolio Review Week, which happens twice annually, is an unprecedented series of events that has spread to hundreds of cities internationally, with a goal of bringing together creative professionals. Portfolio Review Week was born of a simple wish: to bring our thriving online community into offline spaces, where creatives can sit side by side, sharing their work and developing their craft. These events provide invaluable exposure for creatives, as well as the chance to learn new tricks of the trade from their peers and our experienced guest speakers.
This year, Darren Evans, Design Director took to the stage to talk about some of the challenges of being a designer and shared some knowledge and advise from his fifteen years in the industry. Guests included students, established freelances and independent aspiring designers just starting out. Our four reviewers, including Mark and Nathan from The Engine Room team, took small groups and gave them the opportunity to present work, share ideas, give feedback and receive invaluable advise from our team of experienced creatives.
Thank you to our reviewers, The Media Centre and all those who came to share their portfolio. We hope everyone found the night worthwhile, enjoyed listening to our stories and took home something valuable. We have already had some great feedback. Hope to see you all again soon.
